Coaching at Kula

Support for the life you're building.

COMING SOON

Sometimes you aren't looking for therapy. You may understand yourself pretty well. You may not be in crisis or looking to treat a mental health condition. You might simply know that something in your life is ready to shift — and want thoughtful support figuring out what comes next.

Kula Coaching will offer a different kind of space for growth: intentional, practical, nervous-system aware, and grounded in the connection between your mind, body, and real life.

you is possible. Mind · Body · Life
Not everything needs to be therapy

Sometimes the work is about building what's next.

Therapy can be deeply valuable when you're healing, processing, treating mental health concerns, or working through experiences that continue to affect the way you feel and function.

But there are other seasons of life too — seasons when you want to become more intentional, create better rhythms, follow through on something that matters, navigate a transition, reconnect with yourself, or build a life that more closely reflects what you value.

Coaching + Counseling

They can look similar. But they aren't the same service.

Both can involve meaningful conversations, self-reflection, goals, accountability, and growth. The biggest difference is what the service is designed to do.

COUNSELING

Clinical mental health care

Counseling may be the better fit when you're experiencing emotional distress, mental health symptoms, trauma, significant relationship concerns, or patterns that require clinical assessment and treatment.

  • Assessment and treatment of mental health concerns
  • Trauma processing and deeper emotional healing
  • Support for anxiety, depression, grief, and relationship concerns
  • Exploring how past experiences continue to affect the present
  • Evidence-based psychotherapy approaches
  • Diagnosis when clinically appropriate
  • A licensed therapeutic relationship
Think: healing, processing, treatment + integration.

COACHING

Non-clinical support for growth and change

Coaching is designed for people who are generally functioning well but want support creating change, strengthening skills, reaching goals, or moving intentionally through a season of life.

  • Clarifying goals and values
  • Creating sustainable routines and habits
  • Executive functioning and follow-through
  • Navigating life or career transitions
  • Building greater self-awareness
  • Nervous-system education and regulation practices
  • Embodied and mind-body practices
  • Accountability and implementation
  • Personal, relational, parenting, or professional growth
Think: growth, direction, practice + implementation.

Still not sure which kind of support fits?

The Kula Approach to Coaching

Mind. Body. Life.

The same whole-person philosophy that shapes Kula will guide our coaching programs — while keeping coaching clearly distinct from psychotherapy.

THE MIND

Clarity + Self-Awareness

Understand your patterns, priorities, values, strengths, and the beliefs influencing the choices you make.

THE BODY

Nervous System + Embodiment

Learn to notice what happens in your body under stress and experiment with practices that support regulation, presence, and connection.

THE LIFE

Action + Integration

Turn insight into something you can actually live through routines, boundaries, communication, decisions, habits, and meaningful action.

Which one is right for me?

Start with what you need right now.

The question isn't whether your experience is “serious enough.”

A more useful question is: What kind of support does this season of my life actually need?

Coaching may fit when…

  • You're generally functioning well.
  • You feel ready to work toward something.
  • You want structure, reflection, or accountability.
  • You understand many of your patterns but want help changing daily life.
  • You're navigating a transition.
  • You want support around parenting, leadership, work, habits, or personal growth.

Counseling may fit when…

  • Symptoms are significantly interfering with daily life.
  • You want to process trauma or painful experiences.
  • You're experiencing significant anxiety, depression, or emotional distress.
  • You're seeking diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition.
  • You need clinical mental health care or crisis support.
Common Questions

Coaching, without the confusion.

Do I need to have been in therapy before coaching?

No. Coaching isn't an “after therapy” program. Some people come to coaching after years of personal work, while others simply want structured support around a particular goal or season of life.

Is coaching mental health treatment?

No. Kula Coaching will be a non-clinical service. It will not provide mental health diagnosis, psychotherapy, trauma treatment, crisis services, or treatment of mental health disorders.

Can coaching still include emotions and the nervous system?

Yes. Being non-clinical doesn't mean ignoring your emotions or your body. Coaching may include self-awareness, nervous-system education, mindfulness, embodied practices, emotional literacy, values exploration, and reflection. These tools are used for growth and development rather than diagnosis or treatment of a mental health condition.

What if I start coaching and realize I need therapy?

That's okay. If something arises that falls outside the scope of coaching, your coach may recommend counseling or another appropriate level of care. Our priority is helping you find support that fits what you actually need.

Can I receive therapy and coaching at the same time?

In some situations, yes. Therapy and coaching should have clearly defined purposes and roles. Kula will help determine whether coaching is appropriate and whether separating coaching and clinical providers would create the clearest and most supportive experience.

Something new is coming to Kula

Growth doesn't always have to begin with something being wrong.

Sometimes you're ready to build. To practice. To experiment. To reconnect. To become more intentional about the way you move through your work, relationships, body, family, or life.
