THIS GROUP MAY BE FOR YOU IF...

You love your family — and still feel overwhelmed, reactive, or disconnected.

Fatherhood can stretch every part of you. This group makes room for the parts men are often expected to handle quietly.

You notice yourself yelling, snapping, shutting down, escaping, or checking out when stress peaks.
You feel pressure to be strong, capable, and calm even when you are exhausted or unsure.
You want to understand what happens in your body before anger or overwhelm takes over.
You want to communicate and connect more effectively with your partner, child, stepchild, or family.
You miss parts of your old life or identity and feel guilty admitting it.
You want practical tools and honest conversation — not another lecture on how to be a “better dad.”

You do not have to arrive calm, polished, or certain. The point is to practice.

FATHERHOOD DOESN’T HAVE ONE ENTRY POINT

Different families. Shared pressure. Real support.

The Grounded Father is designed to make room for different stages and paths into fatherhood and primary male caregiving.

01

Newborn Dads

Sleep deprivation, role shock, bonding, partnership changes, and becoming responsible for a tiny human overnight.

02

Dads of Kids 0–7

Tantrums, sensory overload, boundary-setting, developmental leaps, and the daily work of staying regulated.

03

Stepfathers

Entering an established family, earning trust, navigating authority, and finding your place without forcing it.

04

Adoptive & Foster Dads

Placement transitions, bonding journeys, uncertainty, and the emotional complexity of building safety and connection.

05

Grandfathers & Kinship Caregivers

Stepping into a primary caregiving role while managing responsibility, changing family dynamics, and your own emotions.

WHAT MAKES THIS GROUP DIFFERENT

Less “just calm down.” More learning how your system actually works.

This is a therapist-led group built around emotional regulation, nervous-system awareness, body-based practice, reflection, and the real situations dads face at home.

Recognize Your Stress State

Learn to notice fight, flight, and shutdown patterns before they automatically turn into yelling, escaping, scrolling, or disconnection.

Regulate Before You React

Practice grounding and body-based tools that can help you create more space between activation and action.

Move Beyond “Fix-It Mode”

Build capacity to stay present with a child or partner’s distress without needing to immediately solve, control, or shut it down.

Build Emotional Range

Put language to what is happening underneath anger and exhaustion — including fear, grief, shame, pressure, and loneliness.

WHAT WE’LL WORK THROUGH TOGETHER

A 12-week process built for real fatherhood.

The curriculum moves from understanding your stress response to building connection, emotional resilience, self-trust, and a more sustainable way of showing up.

01

Safety & stress states

Find your footing, understand fight/flight/shutdown, and learn what activation feels like in your own body.

Weeks 1–2
02

Discharging stress & building self-trust

Explore body-based regulation practices and the foundations of authenticity, acceptance, regulation, and self-trust.

Weeks 11–12
WHAT A SESSION FEELS LIKE

Active, practical, and grounded.

This is not twelve weeks of sitting around being told how you should parent. Each session combines learning, body awareness, practice, reflection, and conversation.

1
Arrive & Ground Start by noticing where your nervous system is today.
2
Learn What’s Happening A therapist-guided concept gives language to the week’s experience.
3
Practice It in the Body Try a grounding, regulation, awareness, or reflection exercise.
4
Process & Take It Home Connect the skill to the situations you are actually dealing with this week.

You are never required to perform vulnerability. Participation is supported at your own pace.

THERAPIST-LED, EVERY SESSION

Held with clinical intention.

Each cycle is facilitated by a qualified Kula clinician. The facilitator guides the structure of the group, supports emotional safety, introduces the week’s skills and concepts, and helps participants connect the work to everyday fatherhood.

Trauma-informed Space to participate without forced disclosure or pressure to “open up” on command.
Nervous-system aware Body-based awareness and regulation are woven throughout the curriculum.
Qualified Kula clinicians Facilitators may vary by group cycle based on clinical fit and availability.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Questions are welcome.

You do not need to know exactly what you need before joining. These are some of the questions dads and caregivers may have before registering.

What is The Grounded Father?
The Grounded Father is a 12-week therapist-led virtual group for fathers and primary male caregivers in Georgia. It combines psychoeducation, nervous-system awareness, body-based practices, reflection, and peer connection to help men work with the stress and emotional changes that can come with fatherhood.
Who is the dads therapy group for?
The group welcomes fathers and primary male caregivers across different stages and family structures, including newborn dads, dads of children ages 0–7, stepfathers, adoptive and foster dads, and grandfathers or kinship caregivers serving in a primary male caregiving role.
Is this only for new biological dads?
No. Although the group addresses the major identity and nervous-system shifts that can come with becoming a dad, the curriculum is intentionally designed for several pathways into fatherhood and caregiving. You do not need to be a first-time or biological father to participate.
What does “dad rage” mean?
“Dad rage” is an informal phrase for moments of intense anger or reactivity that can emerge when stress, exhaustion, helplessness, overstimulation, or pressure build up. It is not a diagnosis. In group, the goal is to understand what happens before anger takes over and practice safer, more intentional ways to respond.
Is this a parenting class or a therapy group?
This is a therapist-led group rather than a traditional parenting class. While you will learn practical skills, the focus is not on giving you a list of parenting rules. The work centers on your own emotional responses, stress patterns, nervous-system regulation, relationships, identity, and capacity to stay present under pressure.
Do I have to talk about personal things in front of the group?
You are encouraged to participate, but you are not forced to disclose more than you are ready to share. The facilitator supports participation at a pace that allows safety, choice, and trust to build over time.
What kinds of topics will we work on?
Topics include stress states, body-based regulation, co-regulation, emotional literacy, anger, anxiety, responsibility and performance pressure, identity changes, grief for your pre-dad life, guilt, shame, joy, connection, and self-compassion.
Can I join this dads therapy group online in Georgia?
Yes. The group meets virtually, so eligible participants can join from across Georgia. Participants should plan to attend from a private location where they can engage in the group confidentially.
When does the group meet and what does it cost?
The Grounded Father meets on Thursdays from 7:30 to 8:30 PM for 12 weeks. Sessions are 60 minutes and cost $35 per session. The next cycle is currently forming.
How do I register for The Grounded Father?
Use the registration link on this page to begin the enrollment process. Registration helps Kula confirm your information and determine whether the group is an appropriate fit before the cycle begins.
